Cee’s Odd Ball Photo Challenge – May 27, 2018 – See Ya Later!

Over the past several years, my biggest customer has been in Louisiana. This has resulted in my going down there fairly often. In my busiest year, 2016, I spent 120 days in Louisiana – enough time that when we applied for Canadian citizenship last year the government asked for me to get an FBI background check done. Apparently that’s enough time to maintain a nefarious side business.

The food there is quite different. Some of it is really good: If I had my way I would go to a crawfish boil every single day. On one of my longest stretches there I got a hotel room with a kitchen and did a bit of cooking at home. Wanting to take advantage of local foods, I went to a local seafood store to pick up crawfish tails for a batch of Thai red curry crawfish I intended to make that night.  While I was there I saw something I have never seen in any other store before or since:

alligator

I didn’t buy one – they were way too big for one person to eat. I did end up buying a bit of alligator meat on my next trip there, though, and made a Thai curry from it as well. While I like alligator, it was not different enough from chicken to be worth making a special trip for.  The crawfish curry, though, was spectacular.
